PSA Data

The [PSA] button in the Library section of the ribbon in the Product Explorer allows you to download Products specific to the Professional Security Association (PSA) list of products from their online store:

This will load a list of products from PSA and the ribbon along the top of the [Add Products from Library] form will change:

There are two major functions with this integration.

  1. The ability to download PSA specific products to your SI Catalog.
  2. The ability to update the MSRP and Unit Cost fields for these PSA products.

In order to update your pricing from PSA, you must register with PSA:

This will open the following form where you can enter your Customer ID and Access Key. You can obtain your Customer ID and Access Key by joining PSA at www.psasecurity.com.

You can filter by Category or by Manufacturer along the left side of the interface:

You can also Search specifically within a filter:

You can choose how many records display on the page, from 10 to 50, and pagination controls will appear if your data exceeds the records per page:

One method to download the Products displaying on the page is to use the Download button on the Ribbon where you can choose "Selected" or "All":

You can also select the Products you wish to download and click the Download button next to one of the selected Products:

Another option is to select the Products that you want to download and drag them over to the Downloads section on the right side of the interface. Use [Shift] or [Ctrl] on your keyboard to select multiple products.

You can choose what fields you want to download (the default is all fields), as well as a few other options:

Mark downloaded products as approved

This option is checked by default. You may wish to uncheck this if you want to easily find products in your Catalog that you have not yet reviewed.

Ignore blank product field values

This option is checked by default. Having this checked will not overwrite a locally populated field with a blank field from the D-Tools Library when doing an update on a Product you have previously downloaded. For example: You downloaded a Product that had no MSRP value and no I/Os. You manually add the MSRP but request that D-Tools update the I/Os. You are notified that we have corrected the Product and added I/Os so you open the D-Tools Data Browser and choose to re-download the Product. You would want this box checked so it did not zero out the MSRP that you manually entered.

Download product thumbnail(s)

This will download the jpg thumbnail image for products.

Update Pricing

When you close the "Add Products from Library" window after downloading products, you will be prompted to update your pricing from PSA. The data fields that will be updated for your PSA products are MSRP and Unit Cost. You can then set your Unit Price manually for these products, set a margin/markup, or apply Price Rules to them.

Here you can choose to set an automatic schedule for when to update the pricing for your PSA products, choose which Price Type you want to update, or manually update any time by clicking the [Update PSA Prices] button. You can also access this dialog any time via the [Update Pricing] button on the ribbon:
