Installing SI5.5 Professional from CD

http://support.d-tools.com/editor/fckeditor/core/editor/images/spacer.gif

Note: Unless you just received your CD in the mail we highly recommend that you contact D-Tools Support for links to download the latest version.  Keep your discs, however, in case you need to install Microsoft Visio.

The SI5.5 installation from our CD is slightly different from our download installation.  You can install additional SI5.5 Clients via the download link that is discussed here or in this case.

1.       Verify that you are on the machine that you have designated to be your SI5.5 Server.

2.       Insert the CD into your CD-ROM drive and the following splash screen will display:

File:Si5Wiki/SI5/02Installation_Admin/021Install_SI5_Professional_from_CD/SI5.5_splash_screen.jpg

Note: If it does not auto-play then you can browse to the CD and double click the Install.hta file (if you are not showing file extensions on your machine then file will just be named “Install”).

3.        Unless you know exactly what you are doing, and even then, click the View the Installation Guide link.  This will open a browser to our most current installation instructions.

4.        If you wish to install Microsoft Visio 2007, click the Install Microsoft Office Visio 2010 (Optional) link and follow the onscreen wizard to install.

5.       Click the Express Install link to begin the installation of the SI5.5 Server.  This will install both the SI5.5 Server and SI5.5 Client on this machine.

6.        The installer will determine if all prerequisites are installed.  Click [Next >].

12.   The install will complete.  You must now configure your server (steps follow).  Click [Finish]

image011.png

13.   Choose your “Run As” option.  We HIGHLY recommend leaving this set to “Current user” and that you just click [OK] on this step.  DO NOT click [Cancel].

image011.png

14.   Immediately following this selection, the SI5 Server Configuration Wizard will open.  If you cancel this configuration at any time before completing, you can run the Server Configuration Wizard manually via this file C:\Program Files\D-Tools\SI 5\Server\ServerConfigurationWizard.exe:

Express Configuration

We highly recommend using the Express Configuration option.  The Express Configuration uses all of the defaults for our configuration and will automatically download and install SQL Server Express 2005.  Although not shown below in the Summary, a default username (admin) and password (admin) will also be created for you (you can modify this username/password later if you choose via the SI5.5 Administration Console).

image014.png

1.      Click [Next].  This will begin the installation of SQL Express 2005 and our then of our Server configuration.

2.      Click [Finish] when the installation completes.

3.       A registration screen will open and you will be prompted to register your SI5.5 Server using the SI5 Pro Server key that you received via email.  Enter the key and click [Register] and when completed, click [Finish].

Installing the SI5.5 Client

Our Express Install already installed the SI5.5 Client along with your SI5.5 Server on this machine.  You can use the CD to install the SI5.5 Client on other machines if you wish.  However, as soon as you create additional users in the SI5.5 Administration Console, they will be emailed a link to download the SI5.5 Client installation.  See Adding Users for information.  See Installing the SI5.5 Client for instructions.
