Backup/Restore

Feature

 

Backing up your SI 2017 data regularly is a good idea. You can also want to use this feature to move your SI 2017 Server to another machine.

Details

 

You must have proper permissions in order to access the SI 2017 Server Manager, see User Groups and Permissions.

 

If you want custom Reports to be backed up in this archive, you must export your custom Reports to your SI 2017 Server prior to running the backup. You can do this in the Standard Report Designer via the "Publish and Export to Server" feature, or you can do this via the Export button in the Report Explorer.

 

If you want custom Visio Stencils or AutoCAD blocks to be backed up, you must export your custom Stencils/Blocks to your SI 2017 Server.

Backup

 

In the SI 2017 Server Manager, click the [Backup SI Server] button.

 

You will be prompted to confirm that all users have checked-in their Projects and are not currently working in the SI 2017 Client. 

 

Confirm and click [Continue]:

 

 

On the next form, browse to where you want the backup to be created and click [Backup SI Server]:

 

 

You will be notified when the backup is complete.

 

Restore

 

In the SI 2017 Server Manager, click the [Restore SI Server] button.

 

You will be prompted to confirm that all users have checked-in their Projects and are not currently working in the SI 2017 Client. Confirm and click [Continue]:

 

 

On the next form, browse to where your backup is and click [Restore SI Server]:

 

 

You will be notified when the restore is complete.

 

 

 

You can also use Windows Task Manager to set up scheduled backups for your SI 2017 Server.
